Which fish is you?

Once in a lake, there were three fish living together called Deergha Darshi, Prapthakalag and Deergha suthra.

Deergha Darshi in Sanskrit denotes someone who is able to look far into future and plan early. This is the trait of a visionary! 

Praptha Kalag denotes the person who is able to understand a particular situation and act accordingly at the particular time. This is the trait of an Intellectual! 

Deergha Suthra denotes the person who always postpones the work. This is the trait of a Procrastinator! 

These characters represent each one of our personal traits in real world! Now let’s get into the story part! 

Some days passed. The summer was approaching. Deergha Darshi called both friends i.e. Praptha Kalag and Deergha Suthra and said “Look friends! The summer is approaching. Our lake will dry up slowly. When the lake dries up, we can’t go anywhere. So let’s plan ahead and swim in the opposite direction to the flow of water in this lake and reach some other big water source.” Great traits of a leader visionary who can predict the future and plan for it far ahead.

Praptha Kalag paid little interest to it and said “Who can say about the future? No proven data to show that this lake will dry up” and did not think of any plan of action. This represents intellectuals who think about the present problems. They think that in future if problems do arise, let us solve at that point in time. They argue the need to worry about a future problem. 

Then there was this third fish, Deergha Suthra who did not pay any attention towards this conversation and even ignored it.

Deergha Darshi being a real visionary thought that it was better to prevent the problem than to run around for solutions when problem arises. So it left that lake, and reached into another big water source.

Some days passed. Summer approached. The water in the lake dried up. One day as predicted some fishermen came with nets, needle sticks, fish-hooks and other threads. They fished in the lake.

Praptha Kalag being an intellectual quickly thought on its feet and held the rope with its mouth as if it was dead and lay still among the middle of other dead fish

But Deergha Suthra without having taken no prior precaution or timely solution, was caught by fishermen and died.

The fishermen finished their fishing and washed their catch hunted by them in water. At that moment, Prapthakalag gently slipped into the water and escaped.

In our real lives we have a mix of all these traits but have to decide which “Which Fish is you?”  Remember all successful men/women are visionaries who own the Intellectuals and overtake the procrastinators.
