The key findings of the report are listed below:

• The concept of a flat structure is increasingly gaining traction among business leaders. Future workplaces will certainly have lesser hierarchies and bureaucratic structures irrespective of whether it is a flat organisation, holacracy or flatarchy. Workspaces will resemble more like micro villages where there are least barriers between executives and employees

• Future workspaces will span over spaces and corners that will help spur creativity and innovation. Organisations of the future will ensure seamless integration of workplaces with social and recreation corners to enhance productivity and efficiency. Office space has the potential of being utilised as a strategic tool to attract and retain talent. Other innovative layouts that can find place in future workspaces include hot-desking, teleworking, adjustable desks where one can stand and work

• Modern workplaces have already allowed remote access to their employees in more than one ways. This trend is likely to catch up further in the future. With the help of modern communication technologies, organisations will be built to be mobile or remote friendly right from inception. As modern technologies have opened up new channels of pursuing careers, rendering more freedom and choice to workers to decide how and where they would like to work, organisations will be more comfortable providing flexibility at work

• Millennial generation is also known for their social awareness and consciousness. They prefer to work with organisations that exhibit corporate social responsibility. As more aware and sensitized young generation sets in, there will be a push for companies to drastically reduce their carbon footprint, whether through regulations or otherwise

• Workforce of the future will demand more work ownership i.e. ability to define and tackle specific problems and tasks. Business leaders will need to understand that they have to let go of the high control, low-trust micro management style, and adopt a more flexible approach. This ensures creativity and optimises productivity. Organisations of the future will be designed for a more horizontal flow of information and ideas
