Motivating Oneself even at Bad times

September 20, 2024 The Editorial Board - Teamware Solutions

Research from the Association for Psychological Science indicates that chronic workplace stress not only impacts emotional well-being but also leads to significant physical health issues. However, incorporating simple techniques that foster sense of fulfillment, hope, and optimism can mitigate these effects. Focusing on increasing joy at work is the best way to improve employee satisfaction, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being, leading to lower work burnouts and boosting higher creative juices!!

Technique# 1 – Find purpose at Work

Many a times we do not know why we work hard. Is it for money or is it for position or is it for the greater good?  Always have a bigger purpose of how your work can positively influence others and world around you! This will give you sense of purpose and direction in the work being undertaken on a Business As Usual basis and not restrict you to just looking at short term or obvious goals of making profits that would dry out or become obsolete as we progress up in our careers.

Technique# 2 – Always be willing to learn

Have a beginner’s mindset as you work through your career. This will help you learn and explore new ideas/concepts/technologies that would make your work interesting. That childlike mindset willing to explore will give you satisfaction and open up new avenues at work and also in your personal life. This mindset, free from past knowledge and biases, expands our perspective and potential and can help us break free from feeling stuck or burned out by fostering a sense of wonder, eagerness to learn, and curiosity.

Technique# 3 – Maintain Positive Mindset

Career slowdowns are inevitable. When work feels overwhelming, and on a downslide maintain a “Accolades” folder on your desktop filled with positive feedback and memorable moments that can lift your spirits and remind you of your value. Research shows that positive mindset and self-assurance improves mental health by reducing anxiety and depression, building resilience, and boosting confidence.

Integrating positivity and optimism within teams is the new leadership mindset. As you implement these techniques please remember that the aim is not just to survive the storm — but rather to make work a place where you and your teams can share joy.
